Nightmare from order date & still not working at all. Brand new machine, installed by licensed plumber--has not done anything except turn the light on when door is opened. No one will 'service' and Whirlpool will not return. Unproductive HOURS on phone w/Whirlpool, seeking installer, delivery, appliance repair bit NO help 3 full months after paid in full purchase. Replaced identical Whirlpool built in & all I have after over $2,000 paid is the correct size for the built in cabinet space.

I'm a retired residential architect, age 71. This is the 3rd undercounter ice maker I bought from Whirlpool for my personal custom homes. Each of the first 2 lasted for years but this one?...only 5 years. A company rep admitted to me that Whirlpool has changed its "appliance longevity" down to 10 years. Hmmmm maybe 5 is more accurate. I used to recommend Whirlpool appliances to all my clients, but perhaps the new group of CEO's and shareholders aren't interested in quality (or reputation) anymore.

Not the same company after 36 years

This is the 3rd under counter ice-maker I've purchased for personal use in my custom homes. I'm a retired architect and have enjoyed all my ice-makers up until this last one. Yes, they are expensive but I love the ice they make. IThe current ice maker is now 5 years old and not making ice. The previous 2 machines lasted me 11 years (until I built another custom home) and 4 years when I again built another custom home. I'm 5 years into this custom home and I've been having trouble with this ice-machine starting 8 months ago. I'm very meticulous on care and maintenance, and very intuitive on minor repairs, but this time it's much more. As an architect I've ALWAYS specified Whirlpool appliances for the new homes I'd design--- not G.E., not Kitchen-aide, not anything thing else. It seems to me that the old "planned obsolescence" idea finally caught up with Whirpool....... what a shame. I swore by them for 36 years of practice and 5 years since then.

I was sold an ice maker and not told that the drain pump is not included. Just wasted 2 weeks getting it installed and then looked at by appliance repair only to be told they forgot to sell me the pump I need. Now I have to wait two more weeks for delivery of the pump and install. Very frustrating.

While it works it is great. Makes good quality clear ice quickly. Takes about 2 full loads to fill a Yeti 50 cooler. It died 3 weeks after warranty expired and Whirlpool will not cover repairs.

This is continued from my other post. This concerns case # 22098095. THe repair person came yesterday for the 5th time. Ice machine is now actually heating the water and the compressor is reaching temperatures of 190 degrees F. Still no offer from whirlpool to replace my machine. This is a horrible company that produces a horrible product. And please...........don't ask me to contact you on facebook or twitter or any of that BS. If you really cared you would call me. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!!!!. We have tried multiple times to get this machine repaired. Our repair guy just left after ruining the new compressor he brought. The repair people have been out 3 times and only seem to make things worse each time. Whirlpool has so far refused to replace the unit even though it is still under full warranty. This is a terrible product produced by a terrible company. Save your money and buy elsewhere. WOW reach out on facebook or instagram???????????? Seriously? You have my phone number and email but you want to hide behind a social media account. Not that that would do me any good because I have gone round and round with you all on this for months and the only thing that happens is you send the same repair person back and they break it worse each time they come out. 2 Days ago he tried to replace the compressor and ruined my ice maker by burning a hole in the new compressor.......DID YOU OFFER TO REPLACE IT? I like the size/shape of the cubes. Also, the design of the scooper and holder is well placed for easy access and storage without touching the ice in the bin. One negative is that it makes a lot of periodic noise, much more than my previous icemaker. I can hear water running and the machine humming from our pantry (not close by). Overall, it is a good appliance.

They sent a lower-level employee out within a few hours of my calling them and sent a technician within two working days. He came yesterday. He said he needed a part that he hoped he could get today and that, if he could, he would install it today. I gave it two stars instead of one because the dealer responded so well.

The free standing under-counter Whirlpool ice maker makes high quality ice. It replaces the same model Whirlpool ice maker we purchased in February 2016, i.e. 9.5 years ago. In 2016 we purchased it from HH Gregg, who installed it. Because HH Gregg no longer exists, we purchased from Best Buy who promised to haul away the old ice maker and install the new one, and we pre-paid for those services. When the ice maker was delivered, Best Buy refused to haul away the old one or install the new one. We had to find an installer on our own, which was very difficult.

WORST experience ever. Don't waste your money!

I bought this machine four months ago and STILL have yet for it to work for one consecutive week. At first it just stopped making ice. Called Whirlpool and after holding for 1.5 hours talked to someone who scheduled a serviceman to come out a month later. He came, did something, the machine made ice for two days, then it all turned to slush. Called Whirlpool after holding for 1 hour, talked to someone who scheduled a serviceman to come out a month later. When he arrived, all the slush had drained out obviously but the machine wouldn't even turn on anymore. He said he would need to order a new electrical panel. Coming back out in a month. WHY CAN'T I HAVE A NEW MACHINE THAT WORKS? This "warranty" is BS. I paid $2200 for a brand new ice machine that has never worked. I am furious. Customer service stinks to high heaven. I will never buy another Whirlpool anything.

I was really unhappy to find out from the local service tech that this ice maker voids over 1 gallon of water every hour. In my opinion a waste and so unnecessary !!!! I could not find any information on the material provided by Whirlpool or the retailer where purchased associated with this. Nor did any of the customer service employees at Whirlpool know about this!! For water conscious people, this should be a big red flag!

Direct replacement for a KitchenAid that needed a new circuit board. It is exactly the same machine except the Whirlpool model does not have the "fancy" extra door handle (which I didn't like anyway) and this new one has a very easy access built-in water filter. Slid right in the existing space perfectly without a single modification.

I have not been happy with the under-counter ice machine. I have had Whirlpool appliances in the past and even had one of these ice machines. Never had any problems in the past. This machine did well at the first and then started making loud noises when it would empty the ice into the ben. Then one day it just stopped working. It's less than a year old and I can say I have been very disappointed.

Great Icemaker, but Routine Cleaning Required

This is my third Whirlpool undercounter icemaker over the past 39 years. Each has performed flawlessly. Despite filters in the inlet water line, I have had to disassemble the units to clean accumulated mold about every 6 months. Not a bad job, but I'd rather not have to doe it. My understanding is that mold accumulation is a common issue with icemakers not in a freezer environment. Hopefully the additional filter built into this new unit will slow the growth.

We have had this icemaker for a few weeks. So far it has been very good. Nice nugget clear ice technology. No leaks or problems, output as expected. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the price. I had looked at other brands and a lot were less expensive. However, in reading those reviews, almost all had reported problems somewhere during the time of ownership, a lot within a year or less. So, perhaps you get what you pay for? I won't know about longevity for some time, but so far am happy with the product. I have had other Whirlpool products, and have always been satisfied with them. If this is still working great in 5 years, I could update to 5 stars, but I most likely will have no way to update this, or remember to, or perhaps it outlasts me! LOL

I bought this ice maker back in May, and with the kitchen renovation going on, I'm just now able to use it. I wanted to have ice for Thanksgiving, so I hooked it up and put the drain hose in a 5-gallon bucket because our plumber canceled on us and couldn't come for another day. Now, I knew there would be some water, but that's an understatement. Within 24 hours, I dumped 10 gallons of water out. You would think since this is an ice maker that it would make ice and keep it frozen, and as you use it, it would just refill itself. Oh no, it continuously makes ice, and the ice that's inside slowly melts. This is such a waste of water. We don't always use the ice, so basically, we are wasting water just to keep ice in it. I wish I would have known this before buying; I would have saved a lot of money and just used refillable ice trays.

Have had one issue with the regular (?) and it started making so much it was falling out when the door was opened. The filter needs replacing frequently bc of our water quality. I've wanted an under counter ice maker with a filter that would produce lots of ice. This one fulfills all the objectives! However, it does give off a lot of hot air. I had a vent installed in the cabinet, but now the hot air really heats up the room. Product manual states it can be enclosed on three sides. Only front needs to be open, which it is. The vent was installed to help the ice maker to NOT overheat. Just something to consider when installing this ice maker.

Great ice but very small cubes

Beautiful ice. Works perfectly. Cubes are very small and melt quickly; a larger cube would be preferable.
